I was born and raised in McLoud, Oklahoma, and graduated from McLoud High School in 2006. I attended East Central University until 2009, when I graduated with my Bachelor's of Science in Early Childhood Education. I attended graduate school at East Central, as well, and graduated with my Master's of Education in School Counseling in 2010.

Over the years, I've worked with young people quite a bit! Here's a little bit about my experience teaching:

  • From 2000-2006, I was a 5th and 6th grade girls' basketball volunteer assistant coach (I love basketball!).
  • In 2006, I was a volunteer reading mentor for 2 kindergarten classes.
  • I tutored 4 students in reading and math, on and off, between the years of 2006 and 2010.
  • I worked at an academic summer camp for teens called Upward Bound in 2008 and 2010.
  • I substituted from 2008-2010 within the McLoud Public Schools district.

I have never been married and I do not have children, although I have a wonderful family and a very loving boyfriend, Jon. Some words one might use to describe me would be: energetic, friendly, hard-working, optimistic, and organized

 Goals for this semester:

1) Provide an environment that is safe from physical, emotional, and verbal harm.

2) Promote lifelong learning.

3) Encourage students to be more successful than they ever thought they could be!

4) Enjoy ourselves while we learn a little something about language arts :)

*All learning in this classroom will be focused around the Oklahoma 8th grade language arts PASS skills, which can be found here: http://sde.state.ok.us/Curriculum/PASS/default.html

I believe:

1) ALL students can and want to learn, if they're given the necessary tools.

2) Students feel more comfortable in a classroom when they know the expected schedules and procedures.

3) Students learn best when learning is tailored to THEM...THEIR interests, THEIR level, etc.
